| WHAT OUR EMPLOYEES SAY ABOUT US
ATTORNEYS
JOHN SACCO
Having established and successfully operated my own law firm for many years before joining the team at Marquis & Aurbach, I believe that one of the most conspicuous qualities that permeates the firm is the superlative work ethic of the attorneys. The associates demonstrate a commitment to providing quality legal work combined with a sense of urgency, so that the clients' needs are preeminently served.
GERALDINE BARRETTO-KO
One of the main reasons I love working at M&A is the people. The employees at our firm are all wonderful people: competent, professional, respectable, and respectful. Having such good quality people to work with on a daily basis makes this office a great place to work.
NICK CROSBY
Marquis & Aurbach's most valuable asset and, consequently its strongest attribute, is its employees. With over 100 very different personalities and ideologies, all working together toward the success of the firm, there can be little doubt that it is the employees that make working at Marquis & Aurbach pleasant. Also, as a young attorney and as a former law clerk for the firm, the responsibility given to law clerks and young associates is unmatched.
BRIAN HARDY
I am one of this firm's greatest supporters. There is not a friend, family member, neighbor or associate that does not know that I work for Marquis & Aurbach, because M&A is different than other firms. M&A has created an environment where people with energy, creativity, commitment and legal prowess work together as a team to fulfill ambitious goals, both in and out of the courtroom. Moreover, M&A provides opportunities for aspiring attorneys, young attorneys and seasoned attorneys alike to excel. However, amidst its energy, growth and success, M&A still takes time to treat its employees like family.
PARALEGALS
KAREN STAMPER
Oh, my, where do I begin? First, I guess I should say I am one of the M&A family members who have had experience working for several law firms, not only in both Reno and Las Vegas , Nevada , but in the states of Washington , Oregon and Arizona . I have been able to compare many different management philosophies to experience the vastly different ways in which law firms view and treat their employees. It has been my incredibly good fortune to work for M&A for eight years.
Even though we have grown to twice the size we were when I first came here in 1998, employees are still treated like family and respected as professionals. We have a real "team" concept of handling cases and getting work done. Attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries keep each other informed so work is done in a timely manner, keeping crises to a minimum. And when there is a true emergency or crisis, a call for help will bring a dozen people to assist and take care of the problem.
As a paralegal, I am not only encouraged, but expected to be proactive, in all cases I'm working on, and to effectively manage the file. The attorneys respect and depend on my skills, and expect me to be knowledgeable about my area of responsibility so I can assist them to be better trial attorneys. The attorneys are quick to praise efforts, and it is not uncommon to see e-mails thanking employees for outstanding efforts.
On a personal level, the firm cares about us as individual people, who have families and interests outside the firm. Management encourages and supports firm activities, including daily firm-ordered lunches, and picnics, Christmas parties, potlucks, Friday Bar-B-Cues or pizza parties, ice cream socials, and any event that promotes camaraderie. In addition, M&A is committed to giving back to the community with an annual firm-sponsored blood drive (we are the only law firm in Las Vegas that does this) and a Christmas angel program to assist individual families in need as well as Shade Tree Shelter. We even sponsored two families devastated by Hurricane Katrina, assisting them with vehicles, furniture, clothing, toys, and funds to begin a new life in Las Vegas .
This is a great firm, with many of the finest attorneys I have ever worked with, a reputation for honesty and integrity, and a philosophy of management from the top down that makes the statement that "we care about our people." I am proud to be part of this family.
DON PRICE
Over the years, I have learned to look for several qualities in an employer: reputation in the community; a team-oriented approach to work; a "we're all in this together" attitude throughout; a willingness to encourage employees to train for new skill-sets and to expand their work horizons; and, of course, competitive salaries and benefits. M&A has all of these. But the primary motivation for me to continue working at M&A is the people I work with. I have made many life-long friends here who have never hesitated to provide emotional and personal support of all kinds for me and my family when we needed it, on and off the job. That is truly a rare quality in a workplace.
THOMAS GILCHRIST
As a Paralegal, I have worked for the largest law firm in Las Vegas as well as a small Las Vegas law firm. When comparing M&A to both extremes, M&A exercises a progressive vision allowing a Paralegal to work smarter and not harder. M&A provides the resources and cutting-edge technology that one would expect in a large firm without the large firm feel. In the spirit of a true mid-sized law firm, M&A is always evolving to be more efficient, and the people that comprise the firm seem to have similar personal traits.
KARNA F. GALLEGOS
I have only worked at M&A for 8 months, and I came from a very small law firm. I worried how the transition would be for me. I am very pleased to say what really impresses me about M&A is even though we are a very large office with over 100 employees, the office still has that "small time feel" to it. Everyone is very friendly and great to work with. The firm is very family oriented and that is a big plus. M&A has all the benefits of working for a larger company but at the same time has the benefits that you normally only get at a small office. I think that is great, and I am very happy to be a part of M&A!
TERRI D. SZOSTEK
I had always heard that M&A was a "top notch" firm. However, I never realized how "top notch" it really was. There are a great many talented people working here and when I read the employee manual regarding the policies and the section on "balance" I never thought that a firm would truly encourage their people in this direction. However, I have found during the past year while working here that not only does M&A put a great deal of time and effort into mentoring their employees and assisting them in being the best they can be in their field, they also care about their "people" and the importance of a balance between work and home lives. How refreshing it is to work for someone who truly cares about their employees and looks at them as not only as "workers" but "people".
STAFF
KIM DEAN
I have worked at M&A for over 20 years. I have literally grown up in the M&A family. I couldn't imagine it any other way. Marquis & Aurbach is the best place to work. I am proud of the firm's reputation and professionalism. I enjoy having contact with the clients and being included as part of the team. Best of all, we have an incredible group of people—some of my closest friends. Time and time again, M&A has pulled together to support each other during tough times, help families in the community and work with various charitable organizations. Marquis & Aubach is the perfect balance between work, family and community.
ELSA PENA
I truly appreciate the flexibility provided to M&A employees which makes it possible for working parents to juggle work hours with our kids' activities. The firm's quality organization and great co-workers also make M&A a wonderful place to work.
SUSIE MUNGARAY
M&A is a "family" firm and is concerned about our need to care for our families and still be able to work. Moreover, I completely enjoy working with everyone here at the firm. I've said several times over the past two years that I feel like I've worked here for years. There is a sense of friendship and familiarity here for me, and I do believe that the attorneys and staff make this a great place to work! |
