APPELLATE PRACTICE

Marquis & Aurbach has a rich history of appellate practice. Since Marquis & Aurbach was established in 1979, the firm has prosecuted and defended hundreds of appeals for its clients in both state and federal courts. Of these appeals handled by Marquis & Aurbach, the Supreme Court of Nevada has issued nearly 50 published decisions. (click here). These published decisions have either created new law in Nevada or clarified existing law.

The services that Marquis & Aurbach offers in this area of practice include: filing post-trial motions in the District Court to stay execution of the judgment, alter the judgment, and preserve issues for appeal; prosecuting and defending state and federal appeals; petitioning and responding to requests for emergency writ relief from an appellate court; petitioning and responding to requests for judicial review of agency decisions; and submitting amicus briefs for appeals that deal with issues of first-impression or important public policies.
